The man who now calls himself the Maestro underwent experiments to enhance his human physiology, granting him dramatically enhanced, speed, reflexes, strength, healing, and durability, while at the same time robbing him of much of his sanity.
His only consistent behaviour is constant, often annoying cheerfulness. He has, at various points, claimed he was once a special forces soldier, a mad scientist, and a mild-mannered reporter. He's even claimed to be a registered clown, and will cling to this all the more the moment it is proven otherwise.
Despite his eccentricities, he is firmly on the side of good, and takes a dim view of those who prey on the weak. When it is pointed out that he could be claimed to be doing the same with the criminals he hunts, he non-chalantly passes this off as them "signing up for my motivational kicking program" and carries blithely on his way.
